Continuing professional development, as a concept, is well known to pharmacists, but there is great variation in how different CPD systems are structured across different jurisdictions. In some countries, evidence of continuing education satisfies requirements for CPD. Others are more focused on an outcomes-based model and require evidence of impact on practice before an activity can be considered eligible as CPD. There is much debate about which is the best approach. This session aims to contribute to that debate! You will hear about two different CPD systems, one inputs-based and one outputs-based. You will be introduced to the concepts required for useful, constructive discussion and then the debates will commence! You will have the opportunity to debate or to judge two live debates relating to different aspects of CPD. Come prepared for a lively exchange of ideas!

Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Analyse a CPD system which is inputs based and one which is outcomes focused;
- Compare different approaches to CPD evaluation;
- Identify the merits and demerits of debating as a means of exploring issues;
- Justify the benefits of being forced to defend a position which is counter to your own beliefs.
