Organised by the FIP Social and Administrative Pharmacy Section in collaboration with the FIP Community Pharmacy Section and the FIP Hospital Pharmacy Section
In some countries, pharmacists have been hired in non-dispensing and team-based services in primary healthcare (PHC) facilities. This represents a great opportunity to consolidate pharmacy as a health profession. However, their prevalence and roles in PHC settings such as general practices and family health centres are not well known. This session will identify and discuss the experiences of some countries and services that integrate pharmacists in PHC settings, searching the opportunities, constraints and results of these experiences. This session will also provide a vision of the future of the profession on this healthcare level and the implications for pharmacy training.
